Backing Storage
Backing Storage is anything that stores extra storage or all data. Such as Disks,Extrnal Hardrive and Pen Drives.
Disks
A disk drive is a device implementing such as fixed or removable media; with removable media the device is usually distinguished from the media as in compact disc drive and the compact disc.
Portable Drives/Fixed Drives
A portable storage device (PSD) is a small hard drive designed to hold any kind of digital data.
Flash Memory Cards
A memory card or flash card is an electronic flash memory data storage device used for storing digital information. They are commonly used in many electronic devices, including digital cameras, mobile phones, laptop computers, MP3 players, and video game consoles.
CD-Disks
CD-Discs are tertiary storage. This means they are portable and if they lose power, the data still remains on the disc. CD-discs are a form of optical media. Data can be written to the disc through a process called 'burning'.
CD-R discs at 12× speed (1.76 MB/s), write to CD-RW discs at 10× speed (1.46 MB/s), and read from any CD discs at 32× speed (4.69 MB/s).

Blu-Ray
Blu-Ray Disc is a type of optical dick storage. It comes in many sizes, the disc contains 25GB per layer, dual layer dics contain 50GB, triple layer discs contain 100GB and quadruple layer dics contain 128GB which are available for Blu-Ray re-writer drives. They are also High Definition (HD) which can only be played on Blu-Ray Players or Devices that support Blu-Ray (Playstation 3) which has a Blu-Ray player buit-in .
Pen Drives
Portable flash drives are also tertiary storage. This means they can be taken offline, are portable and if they lose power, the data still remains on the flash drive. Portable flash drives usually connect to a computer through a USB port. They are easy and convenient to use as once plugged in, the drivers are automatically installed and the pen drive is ready to use.
RAM
RAM is primary storage. This means that it is not portable and if it loses power, all the data on the hard-drive will be lost.
Random-access memory (RAM) is a form of computer data storage. It is used to process computer programmes so therefore if you don’t have a RAM you wouldn’t be able to work some of the computer programmes
such as: e.g. Microsoft word.
RAM is also used for computer games. You can buy higher GB of RAM to run higher specs on games.
